The Irgiz-Torgaj Reserve

Виртуальный тур

Occupying an area of 763 thousand hectares, the Irgiz-Torgaj Reserve was formed in 2007 within the larger Turgay reserve. This is one of the largest protected natural territories in Kazakhstan. The main task of this reserve is to protect and restore the betpakdala population of Saiga Antelope, as well as the integrity of its marsh lands, steppe and semi-desert landscapes, which are unique and have remained practically untouched. These marsh lands are the home and nesting gounds for over 250 species of water fowl. Among the reeds bushes, one may easily meet a wild boar or a muskrat. Boat tour around the Malaydar system, where the lakes are connected by the Irgiz river, may surely be of interest.
