Kuludzhun State Nature Reserve

Surface relief is of two types. First - alluvial-accumulative re4presented by submitted lowland fixed, purple-ridge, loose sand dune arrays that are arisen as a result of eolian (wind) processing the surface. Second - alluvial erosion is represented by the Irtysh and Kuludzhun terraces. In the Kuludzhun floodplain there are three small lakes - Kaznakovskoe, Kambar-Karasu, Chaeche. There are about 200 species of higher plants in the reserve. Most of them - the representatives of the different types of desert vegetation - Kiyak volosnets giant), astragalus, sage, cereals, soups. Among bushes - acacia, Calligonum, juniper dauricus. There are pine forests - steppe form - the remains of the form disappeared at the beginning of the XIX century - ribbon Hatun-Karagai wood. Amphibian fauna is represented by two species - the gray toad and moor frog. Some species of reptiles inhabit: a multicolored lizard, sand lizard and rare - Zaisan kruglogolovka, oculate lizard. There are wetland, nesting in the Kuludzhun floodplain birds there, the number of which reaches 80: bittern, white and gray herons, gray goose, mallard. Reserve plays a great a role in protecting the mammalian species which includes 20 species. Deer move here for wintering, their number may reach several hundred. The rare Jungar salpingotus. Sporadically observed steppe cat. Common wolf, fox, muskrat, legged jerboa, steppe pika, a hamster Eversman. Economic activities and poaching are effect adversely on the safety of the Fauna.
