October 22, 2014, Almaty, Kazakhstan -- Abacus Corporate Travel Conference (ACTC 2014) was held today in Almaty. Organised by Abacus International, a leading provider of solutions and services for tourism industry in the Asia-Pacific region, ACTC 2014 was the largest event in Central Asia dedicated to business tourism.

This year’s ACTC 2014 was supported by the Ministry for Investment and Development of Kazakhstan, Tourism Department of Almaty City Administration, Tourism Industry Committee of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Tourist Association, Kazakhstan Association of Hotels and Restaurants, Astana Tourism Association and National Association of the Tourism Industry.

The key topic for the conference was "Business Travel Safety – Prevent, Inform, React". During the conference, the international experts from Abacus International (Singapore), International Air Transport Association (IATA, Canada), and representatives of the state structures and business associations of Kazakhstan, as well as the management of local and international airlines, foreign and domestic hotels shared with participants the best international practices that ensure security during business trips and risk management in travel.
Pavel Spitsyn, General Director of Abacus Central Asia noted: “We are very excited about our annual meeting with players of corporate travel market of Kazakhstan. We are arranging Abacus Corporate Travel Conference for the fourth time. ACTC is a unique platform in the Central Asia for customers and service providers to share their business travel management experience. In this aspect, ACTC exhibition also plays a great role in establishing communication between tourism industry professionals. This year was very intense and rich with natural, man-made disasters, civil conflicts and traffic collapses, all of which had a direct impact on travel industry. All these events force us to think over questions of minimising risks and, financial losses, as well as ensuring the safety of employees."
Rosa Asanbaeva, President of the Kazakhstani Tourist Association, Chairman of the Tourism industry Committee and Board Member of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan: “Business tourism plays a significant role in the development of Kazakhstani economy. In May 2014, the government approved the concept of the tourism industry development till 2020. According to this concept, the development of business tourism in Astana and Almaty was allocated in a separate cluster. Currently, corporate travel market has a significant share in the structure of the whole tourism market. I believe there is a great potential for development of tourism in Kazakhstan; and our market is awaiting new opportunities and the qualitative growth of tourism services sector. ACTC 2014 is the platform, where key players of the business tourism market can get necessary knowledge and skills, as well as to discuss different issues facing the market. Such events strengthen the development of Kazakhstan’s tourism industry.”
During the conference, the representatives of the state authorities, associations and business community met with foreign experts on business tourism, representatives of international airlines, hotels, officials of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and members of the tourism market.
