Almaty Mayor Akhmetzhan Yesimov has met with academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan Serik Kirabayev and Aliya Beisenova. They are married 60 years. The Mayor congratulated them on a significant date and noted that they are exemplary married couple of scientists.
Academician Serik Kirabayev expressed gratitude to the city authorities for attention to development of the state language, science and culture.

From 1998 to 1999 Tuckermann was writer in residence for the Berlin district of Hellersdorf. "My friendship with the young people will stay with me", says the author. Her interviews with adolescents from this outlying districts can be found in her book 'Horror oder Heimat? – Jugendliche in Berlin-Hellersdorf'. The youths talk about hopes and dreams, drugs and racism. This issue of being "different"or being perceived as "different" is a focus of her play 'Asra – Die von Gegenüber' and in her novel 'Muscha', which earned the Rote Tuch prize in 1994.
Her radio programme 'Muscha – Eine Kindheit im Nationalsozialismus', in Panther & Co series, won the ARD Kurt Magnus Prize in 1992. Her play 'Komm wir knutschen' was nominated for the Niederländisch-Deutscher Jugenddramatikerpreis. She also received the Hans-im-Glück-Preis for 'David Tage Mona Nächte' in 2000. Tuckermann lives in Berlin.
Almaty. October 17. Bike ride devoted to the 80th anniversary of the Kazakh National Agrarian University took place in Almaty.
A bike ride devoted to the 80th anniversary of the Kazakh National Agrarian University took place in Almaty. Akims of the districts of Almaty city, rector of the Kazakh National Agrarian University Tlektes Yespolov, students of the university, veterans of cycling and youth organizations took part in the ride. Participants of the sport event drove along one of the main highways of the city - Al-Farabi Avenue.
The main purpose of the event is promotion of cycling in the city. About 300 people participated in the sport event.
Almaty. October 2. Akim of Almaty Akhmetzhan Yesimov made a working visit to the city and acquainted with the work on the construction of the road gondola Medeo - Shymbulak.
Currently, the road between the gondola and Medeo Shymbulak, length 4.6 km is almost ready. According to the experts - this will be the second longest gondola road in the world. Elevated base stations, being the finishing work.
Also Akhmetzhan Yesimov visited the skating rink Medeo. To date, the Medeo installed ultramodern automatic refrigeration equipment, scoreboards, bleachers and podtribunnye refurbished premises. Now all works are in the final stage. In the near future on the famous skating rink will begin mass skating citizens and guests of Almaty.
In addition, the mayor of the city visited the ski base Shymbulak, where reconstruction work underway. At the ski lodge work is underway, to improve the slope. For lovers of skiing provides easy descent to the gondola road. Also, now fully renovated hotel, built a restaurant and special boxes for storing skis. Particular attention is paid to Akhmetzhan Yesimov infrastructure ski area. Almaty mayor also instructed to complete all work on the construction of these facilities within the established time schedule.
Almaty. October 1. Almaty Mayor Akhmetzhan Yesimov has held a meeting with German Minister of Economics Ernst Pfister and members of a delegation of businessmen and representatives of a company on innovational and environmental technologies from Baden-Württemberg today.
In June 2009 A.Yesimov and Oberburgermeister of Stuttgart (capital city of Baden-Württemberg) Wolfgang Schuster signed joint statement on cooperation between cities outlining the main directions of interaction. These are experience and information exchange in the field of municipal administration, development of cooperation in the field of innovative technologies, assistance in singing contracts between enterprises. Cooperation in the field of healthcare, holding joint seminars, conferences and other activities promoting contacts development between Almaty and Stuttgart is provided as well.
The foreign trade turnover with the German side made USD 862.5 mln in 2009. In 2010 the figure is USD 784.4 mln. To date 163 joint enterprises with German capital are registered in Almaty. The Days of German Economy are held in Almaty annually.
"We watch with interest the preparation of Kazakhstan to a big step - modernization of the economy", Minister of Economics Ernst Pfister said.
"Almaty is a financial center of the country. It will become an innovative center of Kazakhstan soon. The construction of the industrial zone is underway. Heads of over 100 companies applied for participation in the project. We will welcome and support everybody who wants to produce in the zone", A.Yesimov said.
