Lake Kyzylkol

The Lake Kyzylkol is located in a semidesertic zone in 5 km to the southwest from settlement Kumkent of the South Kazakhstan area and is the most western in system of lakes of northern foothills Karatau. The lake is included into the list of key ornithological territories BirdLife International and represents one of the best places for supervision over birds in Kazakhstan. Among interesting kinds here it is possible to mention the Pink Pelican (Pelicanus onocrotalus) and the Curly Pelican (Pelecanus crispus), the Sea eagle-belohvosta (Haliaeetus albicilla), the Big Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) and the Small Cormorant (Phalacrocorax pygmaeus), the Black signature stamp (Aegypius monachus), the Golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) and weight of other interesting feathery. In migration on lake it is marked more than hundred kinds of birds. And in lake vicinities, among small stones of a pebble, remains of representatives of the ancient fauna living here millions years ago are based: the spark teeth is one of the most widespread finds.
